A Little Introduction

I thought I would give you all a little bit of background about me, where I live and my "nail story" before I get into some photo heavy blogs.  I'll try to keep this as short as possible while still giving you a good idea of who I am.
I live in a smallish (population 8000) town in Nova Scotia Canada.  I am a full-time working Mom & Wife.  I am addicted to nail polish!  My addiction started almost a year ago when I decided to take off my gel nails (which I had been wearing for more than a year).  I noticed my gel nails had been lifting a lot between fills and was pretty sure it was because my nails were in bad shape.  I was right.  Over the last year I've been trying to get my nails back in shape and pretty much started wearing polish to camouflage the state of my nails after my gels came off. Then, something awesome happened.  I discovered I really liked loved doing my nails.  I find it very relaxing and therapeutic.
I've amassed quite a collection of polishes considering I've only been collecting seriously for about the last 6-8 months.  At some point I'll show them all to you!
My goal with this blog is simply to share my passion with all of you.  I want to share my swatches, techniques, design ideas, amazing finds, awesome tools and more.  Keep in mind that I have a hard time finding some of the more popular polish brands because of my location.  I've resorted to ordering online and eBay for most of my finds.  I can easily get drugstore brands such as Sally Hansen, Revlon and Gosh, but have to order online for brands like China Glaze, Zoya & Orly.
I'm working on a good photo setup for product photos and swatches and hope to have my first post of my most recent haul with swatches in the next few days to a week.  Please be patient with me while I get my feet wet with the world of blogging :)

Here are some things I'm working on and will have posts of in the next little while:

  • I'm building my own nail polish wall rack!
  • I have a few new hauls to share with you (including one I'm planning on this weekend when we go away to a place with a Sally Beauty!)
  • I'm working on swatching my entire collection on nail wheels
  • I've just discovered Fimo canes and will be working on getting those cut and organized
I know reading an entirely text based blog isn't really very interesting, but please hang in there.  This WILL get more interesting.  I promise!

Until next time......

And so it begins......

Once upon a time..............no, really.
Once upon a time I wore gel nails.  Sure, they looked pretty and were pretty much worry free but they were.....in a word.....boring.  I live in a small town in South West Nova Scotia.  Most of our nail salons are part of full service beauty salons.  They don't do the fancy airbrushing and such.  I was getting bored with the traditional French manicure and was really beginning to crave some colour on my phalanges.
So, after about a year and a half of constantly wearing gel nails, I decided to give them up.  My natural nails were in a very poor state.  They were dry, peeling, thin and weak.  I tried several different products to strengthen them and get them back in a healthy state.  I'm just getting there now after nearly a year without my gel nails.
And so it began.  I became obsessed with nail polish and all things nails!  Colours, finishes, treatments, decals, decorations, etc, etc, etc.  I've really enjoyed watching nail tutorials on YouTube and following and checking out different nail blogs.  I enjoy it so much I decided to start my own!  I don't know how entertaining this will be for everyone (anyone?) out there, but I hope I can excite someone else about all things nail as much as I've been excited by it via various gurus.  I plan to post some photos, hauls, reviews, and probably just some general blabber.  Whatever happens, I know I will enjoy sharing my newly found passion with the world wide web.
And so it begins....
